Black Rock takes its name from the dark rocks that mark its entry point at a private beach club, where a sandy slope leads divers gently down to a colourful fringing reef. It is one of Aqaba's friendliest beginner dives.

Long popular thanks to its easy access and sheltered conditions, Black Rock has introduced countless divers to the Red Sea. The combination of a clear sandy entry and a healthy reef just offshore makes it a textbook training and orientation site.
Marine life & what you'll see
The sandy approach is worth scanning for rays, flounders and garden eels before you reach the reef, where hard corals, anemones and reef fish take over. Goatfish forage in the sand, wrasse work the coral, and the shallow reef top glows in the sunlight.
Diving Black Rock
Most diving here happens around 12 metres and shallower, with an easy shore entry and gentle conditions. That makes Black Rock ideal for beginners, refresher dives and night dives, and a comfortable site to practise skills before moving on to deeper reefs and walls.

Diving conditions & best time
Aqaba offers some of the calmest, most accessible diving in the Red Sea, and Black Rock is no exception. Water temperatures stay comfortable year-round, from about 21°C in winter to 27°C in summer, and visibility commonly runs 15–40 metres. Black Rock is a shore dive, so it can be enjoyed across most of the year; the calm gulf rarely sees big swell, and we dive it in small guided groups with all equipment available.

Aqaba has its own international airport (King Hussein International) and is an easy drive from Amman, Petra and Wadi Rum, so a dive here fits neatly into a wider Jordan itinerary.
