Coral Garden, in Aqaba's South Bay, lives up to its name: a dense, sprawling forest of hard and soft coral spread across a gentle, almost flat seabed. It is one of the most relaxed and colourful reef dives in the gulf.
The story of Coral Garden
The site's sheltered position and shallow, even topography have allowed coral to grow thickly over a wide area, creating a continuous garden rather than a single reef wall. It has long been a favourite for unhurried fun dives and for divers building confidence after training.
Marine life & what you'll see
The flat layout means coral stretches in every direction, dotted with anemones and their clownfish, grazing surgeonfish, and darting damsels. Because there is so much cover, it is a superb site for finding smaller creatures — shrimp, nudibranchs and well-camouflaged scorpionfish among the coral.
Diving Coral Garden
Shallow and gentle throughout, Coral Garden is perfect for all levels, including students and snorkellers. There is little current, distances are short, and the even depth makes for long, easy dives with plenty of time to slow down and look closely.
Highlights
- A dense, wide coral 'forest' in South Bay
- Flat, shallow and current-free — ideal for all levels
- Anemonefish, surgeonfish, shrimp and nudibranchs
- Long, relaxed dives perfect for macro and learning
Diving conditions & best time
Aqaba offers some of the calmest, most accessible diving in the Red Sea, and Coral Garden is no exception. Water temperatures stay comfortable year-round, from about 21°C in winter to 27°C in summer, and visibility commonly runs 15–40 metres. Coral Garden is a shore & boat dive, so it can be enjoyed across most of the year; the calm gulf rarely sees big swell, and we dive it in small guided groups with all equipment available.
