The two pinnacles, set a little offshore, catch the gentle water movement that gorgonians love, which is why they have grown so large and healthy here. The site has become a favourite of underwater photographers seeking that classic Red Sea sea-fan shot.
Marine life & what you'll see
The headline gorgonian fans sit at around 20 and 29 metres, framed by soft corals and sponges. A central cleaning station draws a steady parade of larger fish waiting to be groomed by cleaner wrasse, while anthias and glassfish swarm the pinnacles and lionfish hang in the shadows.
Diving Gorgone I & II
Because the best fans are at 20–29 metres, Gorgone is best enjoyed by Advanced or experienced intermediate divers with good buoyancy — important for protecting the fragile sea fans. It is a boat dive in usually calm, clear water, and a must for keen photographers.

Diving conditions & best time
Aqaba offers some of the calmest, most accessible diving in the Red Sea, and Gorgone I & II is no exception. Water temperatures stay comfortable year-round, from about 21°C in winter to 27°C in summer, and visibility commonly runs 15–40 metres. Gorgone I & II is a boat dive, so it can be enjoyed across most of the year; the calm gulf rarely sees big swell, and we dive it in small guided groups with all equipment available.
